Best. Wedding. Ever.
October 6, 2007I was asked by my new friends Chris and Jessica Petriwsky if I would take some shots at their wedding. Since this would be my first time shooting a wedding, and I haven’t the first clue about professional wedding photography, of course I said yes!
It turned out to be an amazing day and night, all contained within the Cascade Ski Club in Government Camp, Oregon. It was a fairly short drive up there, but I couldn’t get there soon enough. After I checked in to the hotel, I realized that I had my suit, my shirt, my casual clothes… but no shoes. A quick attempt at finding a store selling dress shoes in Government Camp came up fruitless, so on a highly time-sensitive day, I had to repeat half of my drive from an hour before in order to find a place to buy them.
It’s a good thing I was overly-anxious to begin my work day shooting, and ended up being there several hours early!
The time that followed the ceremony was more of a concert party than a wedding reception, and it was perfect. Chris and Jessica know some pretty amazing people, and the positive energy in that place was overwhelming. The Uprite Dub Orchestra played four sets of incredible tunes, and I’m proud to say I actually skanked for the first time in years.
Great band, great spot, great people, great night. Thank you Chris and Jessica!
