My older brother Michael goes by another name in his everyday life. To those he lives with on the Shasta Abbey Buddhist Monastery, he is Reverend Houne Sheridan. He is a Buddhist monk, and was ordained in April of 2006. I have only visited him twice before at the abbey, located in Mt. Shasta, California, but this was the first time I visited him all by myself.

For the holiday weekend this year, I was invited down to Ashland, Oregon to visit my very good friends Wade and Noelle. I used to live in Ashland for about five years, but moved away in 2000. I just wanted to take a moment to throw in a plug for what should be an excellent Northwest Hip-Hop show by Basic Shapes at Berbati on Wednesday, November 21. I had the privilege to photograph these guys at their last performance at Skyway in Zig Zag, Oregon for the Pray for Snow Party.
